E3 2018: Destiny 2’s Forsaken Story Trailer Starts With A Bang

By Keith MitchellJune 12, 2018
Destiny 2

Did they just kill off Cayde-6?

While Bungie’s Destiny 2 hasn’t been received as well as the team has wanted it to be, they’re attempting to change all that. A new update, Forsaken, is coming to the game. An update that promises to shake things up by giving us more stuff to do, and more. We’ll be following that a bit more in the upcoming days.

But we’re here to talk about the story trailer that starts it all and it features one of my favorite vanguards. Cayde-6, voiced Nathan Fillion, getting gunned down. Yes, they freaking took him out!

That despicable Prince Uldren and his posse not only kill off a wrecked Cayde-6 but also put down his Ghost. Meaning this death is permanent. Or as permanent as Bungie wants us to believe anyway.

See how it all goes down below.

Of course, Cayde-6 is an exo, so there’s the possibility that Bungie could bring him back as Cayde-7. Just without his memories. But at this point, I doubt any of us know what’s in store here. As for bringing him back, I’m a bit conflicted. If he returns then it cheapens his death. But leaving him dead means that not only is Nathan Fillion gone from Destiny 2, but we’ll see (hopefully) a new vanguard replace him.

Though, if you watched the trailer you see an unnamed guardian carrying Cayde-6 to the Traveler. Who can pretty much do whatever it wants, including resurrections. So I suspect that we’ll see Cayde-6 back again, if only after the end of the Forsaken arc. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I have to say, that despite skipping out on much of Destiny 2‘s content. Forsaken is really making want to come back. And I’m sure that’s Bungie’s goal all along.

The Forsake expansion for Destiny 2 releases on September 4th, 2018, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
