Is The Next Star Fox Title…A Racing Game?

By Todd BlackMay 14, 2018
Star Fox

Nintendo is known for their secrecy…well, except when it comes to Super Smash Bros leaks, but hey, aside from that, they’re really good about keeping secrets. One of their best secrets that’s ongoing is what legendary developer Retro Studios is working on. They have released a title since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, and since then, and the announcement of the Switch, many wondered what their new game for the new system would be. Well, if rumors are to be believed, it might be a Star Fox game.

Now, while that would usually fill us with a TON of joy, as they could revive the series in a way that Star Fox Zero could not, there’s a twist on this tale. For according to rumors sent to both Eurogamer and other outlets, the game is going to be a racing title. That’s right, a racing title, apparently a mix of Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 and F-Zero. In fact, a “logo” was “leaked” to the outlets as well, check it out.

To be clear, this is NOT confirmation of anything, but with multiple outlets hearing these rumors, we can’t deny the possibility.

On a personal level, if this is Retro Studios next game, I’ll be hoping they’re working on something else. Because it shouldn’t have taken them 4 years to make this title (Feb. 2014 was when Tropical Freeze released), no matter how big and grand it is.

Either way though, we’ll have to wait and see what’s going on here. Hopefully a Nintendo Direct or the E3 2018 digital event they’ll hold will reveal what’s going on.
