BanG Dream! Receives Several New Projects

It has become quite apparent that Bushiroad’s BanG Dream! media franchise has taken off. It was announced via their Twitter account that the franchise will be receiving a second and third anime season, an all-male band project as well as a mini anime based on the Girls Band Party spinoff game app!

First off, for the anime, both seasons are slated to begin airing in 2019. The second season is slated for January while the third season is slated for October. The original season contained 13 episodes and aired in January 2017 where it streamed on Crunchyroll and Anime Network Online. Sentai Filmworks holds the license for the first season of the series and is scheduled to release it in the West on June 19.

MyAnimeList.net describes the story of BanG Dream as follows:

Since she was very young, Kasumi Toyama has always been searching for the “Star Beat”, a sparkling and exciting sound she heard while looking up at the night sky. Just after getting into high school, Kasumi comes across a “star-shaped guitar” in the storage area of an old pawn shop. Feeling a rush and excitement she has never felt before, Kasumi teams up with four other girls and embarks on a journey to seek out the shiny place. We promise to perform a live here!

A promotional graphic for the second and third seasons was also released

On the subject of the mini anime, it will be based on the BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! ☆ Pico spinoff game. That anime is set to air this year on July 5 and will be a part of the BanG Dream! TV variety program that airs on Tokyo MX each Thursday at 11:30 p.m. The anime will also stream on the BanG Dream! YouTube channel.

A promotional graphic was also released for the spinoff anime as well!

Lastly, Bushiroad announced that there will also be an all-male band project for the franchise. An official website was launched on Saturday and announced that voice actors Shuuta Morishima, Seiji Maeda and Daisuke Hyuga will be taking part in this band project. A video was streamed where the voice actors announced that their first concert will take place in July under the name of Argonavis. A specific date in July has not been set for the concert but a promotional graphic was also released for the group.
