Red Dead Redemption 2 Gets Third Official Trailer

By VeronicaMay 2, 2018

As promised, the newest trailer for Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 went live this morning.

The trailer builds on the knowledge we already had about the sequel. Previous trailers informed us that the game would precede the events of Red Dead Redemption, and would follow Dutch van der Linde’s gang. This time we have confirmation for a year – 1899. That takes us 12 years before the events of the first game. In this game, you’ll play as Arthur Morgan, and the trailer shows some of the tensions between Arthur and Dutch’s gang. It definitely provides insight to the possible redemption side of Arthur’s story, as the last trailer showed his more vengeful side.

From the description:

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

Perhaps the biggest reveal of the trailer is that John Marston’s presence as a character is all but confirmed. Around the 1:40 mark, we see what appears to be a younger John, with the same distinct facial scars.

Red Dead Redemption 2

While it is mildly disappointing that we still haven’t seen any gameplay yet, any Red Dead news is good news. We can also breathe a sigh of relief that another delay wasn’t announced in the trailer, and it seems they’re sticking to a late 2018 release (for now, that is).

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases October 26th, 2018 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
