Meet the Teen Leads of the Upcoming ‘Kim Possible’ Movie

By Sara Roncero-MenendezApril 25, 2018

Ah, Kim Possible, the teen spy show that delivered compelling plots, great animation, and just the best villains. Though the animated show has been off the air for years now, it has a place in many fans’ hearts. Now, however, they might need to make a little more room for the live-action film Disney is going to be making, now with two actual teens as the leads.

Disney announced that they have cast Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone as the titular Kim Possible, and her sidekick Ron Stoppable, respectively. Stanley is new to acting, having landed the role in her first ever audition, but Giambrone’s face is likely more familiar. He’s been starring in the ABC comedy The Goldberg for six seasons.

Perhaps even cooler, the cast was announced in a video with Christy Carlson-Romano and Will Friedle, the original voices of Kim and Ron:

Judy Taylor, senior vice president of casting and talent relations for Disney Channel, explains in a statement why they picked these two to play the film’s heroes:

“Sadie delivers Kim’s confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she’s an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit. Sean is such a magnetic actor; he always finds the right balance of physical comedy and heart. We’re excited for audiences to see Sadie and Sean bring these iconic roles to life.”

The live-action movie will be written by the series’ creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley, who will also serve as executive producers. It will be will be co-directed and co-produced by Adam B. Stein (Jimmy Kimmel Live) and Zach Lipovsky (Mech-X4). No news yet on which villains will make it into the film, nor who will play them, but we expected to hear more about this nostalgia trip soon.

The currently untitled Kim Possible live-action movie is set to debut sometime in 2019 on the Disney Channel.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
