To say that IT was one of the breakout hits of 2017 would be a little bit of an understatement. But now audiences are anxiously awaiting to see what will happen in IT: Chapter Two, especially given that the film will need to cast adult versions of its six main characters, i.e. the members of the Losers Club.

One of these characters is already cast: Jessica Chastain will play the adult version of Beverly Marsh, the teams fiery red-head who survives her abusive father. Now we have James McAvoy and Bill Hader in negotiations to join the film as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hader would most likely be cast as Richie Tozier, the comic relief character played in IT by Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things. Hader’s comedic chops would come in handy for the fowled-mouth, wise-cracking Richie, who in the books becomes a radio DJ as an adult.

McAvoy is in line to play Bill Denbrough, the stuttering Losers Club leader who loses his brother that the beginning of the film. It makes sense, given McAvoy’s good looks and penchant for playing the protagonist. Bill grows up to be a successful writer in the books, but we’ll have to see if they carries over to the movie.

Bill Skarsgard will reprise his role as Pennywise, or rather IT, the monster of the film. Andy Muschietti will return as director, and Gary Doberman will write the screenplay once more. No word yet on who will be cast for the other half of the team, but it’s likely we’ll be getting some news soon.

IT: Chapter Two is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on September 6, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
