God Of War To Include A Performance Mode On The PlayStation 4 Pro

By Keith MitchellMarch 29, 2018

PS4 Pro owners will benefit from the included performance mode

Thinking about picking up Kratos’s latest outing with God of War for the PlayStation 4? Well, if you do and you just so happen to have a PlayStation 4 Pro, then you’re in for a treat. Per Cory Barlog, the creative director at Santa Monica Studio, the PS4 Pro will have a performance mode. In a nutshell, this will let PS4 Pro owners put the extra power to use if they don’t have a 4K TV.

Nope, you don't have to, but if you do 4k is AMAZING, if you have a 4k TV, of course. If you don't, we have a performance mode that puts the extra power to good use and makes the game run so so smooth!

Meaning that if you don’t have a 4K TV/monitor, your PS4 Pro will push out more pixels at 1080p. He goes on to state that this will equate to a smoother experience, but how smooth is smooth? Are we talking about a locked 60 frames per second or maybe a dynamic frame rate that will adjust when playing through heavy action filled segments? Honestly, I’d love to see a locked frame rate, as games that jump all over the place really does a number on my eyes. I’d even take a locked 30FPS with improved IQ at 1080p.

We don’t know enough about what to expect as of yet. So we’ll just have to wait until the game is in the hands of reviewers and influencers, and hear their thoughts about it the game’s performance. Which shouldn’t be very long, since God of War releases on April 20, 2018, for the PlayStation 4.  And damn, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Can you blame me?

If you have a PlayStation 4 Pro and a 4K TV, will be you forgo the visuals for a better frame rate? Or will you rather your eyes get blasted with some 4K goodness? Sound off in the comments, we want to know.
