Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Is Heading To Xbox One In April

Updated with confirmed information from Ninja Theory’s press release

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory’s first self-published title and a game that revolves around mental health has a been an amazing story. Being both a voice that hasn’t been heard in video games, it was met with much acclaim on how it addressed certain issues in our society. I really can’t say much more about how good the game is and how it basically knocked it out of the park.

Yet, for everything that the game has done, there was one serious downfall. It was only available on the PC and PlayStation 4. Leaving the Xbox One crowd unable to experience such a gaming gem. But that’s all about to change, thankfully.

While there hasn’t been any public announcement or at least none that I’ve seen. Though it was hinted a while back by Ninja Theory, who stated it would depend on how well the game did. Which it ultimately ended up performing very well. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is coming to the Xbox One as of April 11th, 2018. In addition, the title will be Xbox One X enhanced and will support the following;

  • HDR10
  • Variable Refresh Rate
  • Xbox One X Enhanced
  • 4K Ultra HD

Original article: The variable refresh rate means that we should be able to toggle the frame rate. This will likely be similar to the ’60hz Mode’ that is available on the PS4 Pro version. Doubling the target frame rate to 60FPS, at the cost of resolution and IQ. I doubt this would be 4K@60FPS, but we don’t have any confirmation on that. Another feature that isn’t available on PS4 version but is on the Xbox One X version is HDR support. While they did mention that HDR support would be coming to the PS4 Pro, there hasn’t been any word on it as of yet.

Updated information: Hellblade on Xbox supports HDR and the game is enhanced for Xbox One X, with players having the choice of 3 enhanced modes to select from Enhanced Visuals mode offers extra FX and visual quality throughout the experience, High Framerate mode runs the game at 60fps and High-Resolution mode runs the game with dynamic resolutions up to 4K.

The title is available on both Microsoft’s store and on Xbox Live with pre-orders starting tomorrow (March 26). The game weighs in at 15.39 GB and will be priced at $29.99, with a 10% discount if you pre-order.

This is exciting news for Xbox One owners, who wanted to try out the Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. But didn’t have access to either a PS4 or a PC that could play it. Kudos to Ninja Theory for making this happen.

Looks like I’ll be double dipping on this for sure.
