Ubisoft Picks Up Brawlhalla Developer Blue Mammoth

By Keith MitchellMarch 2, 2018

What started out as “not quite a smash bros.” clone, has gone on to be one the best Free-to-Play games on the PC and PS4. Brawlhalla brings all the fun and excitement that PC gamers have wanted after watching many of the Smash Bro. titles and continues to pick up steam. Easy one of the most played games on Steam, with thousands of playing the game.

Obviously, the popularity of the game has gained the attention of many. So much that one publishing company, Ubisoft, has acquired Blue Mammoth Games.

In a recent blog post, Blue Mammoth Games shared the news regarding the acquisition today.

Hey everybody,

This has been a year of big announcements for Blue Mammoth Games, and now I have the biggest announcement yet.

Quick story: Last year, Brawlhalla was growing, the community was growing, esports was growing, the studio was growing, everything was going great. But as we grew up and up, we also began seeing the ceiling for a scrappy, never-say-die indie studio. We realized that to complete our plan and take this crazy game to the next level, we were going to need help. So we went out looking for a partner.

And I don’t want to brag, but we succeeded beyond my wildest expectations. Long story short, Blue Mammoth Games is joining Ubisoft!

There’s more to the announcement which you can read here.

I think this is great news for the dev studio, as it means more capital to do more stuff. Blue Mammoth has had some really ambitious plans for Brawlhalla, but the issue of money has been something that has been holding them back. With Ubisoft behind them now, they’ll have more resources to do more. I cant’ wait to see what Blue Mammoth Games and Ubisoft have in store for Brawlhalla now.

Brawlhalla is currently available for PC and PS4 (console exclusive).
