Blazblue Cross Tag Battle DLC Pack 1 Free for First Two Weeks of Launch

While Dragon Ball FighterZ has been successful for Arc System Works since it’s release about a month ago, fans were puzzled about some of the decisions made concerning Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. At first, it was announced that 20 characters would be available at launch, with another 20 (half the roster) would be available in DLC packs after the game’s release. Arc Systems has begun rectifying that situation, first by offering the remaining members of Team RWBY: Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long, as free DLC indefinitely. However, on Friday, Arc System Works announced via Twitter that Cross Tag Character Pack 1 will be available for free for two weeks after launch.

On top of #RWBY's Blake and Yang being free for all indefinitely, players that get #BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle in the first two weeks will get Cross Tag Character Pack 1 for free as well. #BBTAG pic.twitter.com/3ooce3nJBL

The 1st Character Pack for Blazblue Cross Tag Battle includes Kanji Tatsumi from Persona 4 Arena, Orie from Under Night in Birth EXE:Late, and Platinum=The=Trinity from BlazBlue. This character pack, as well as the other five, will cost $4.99 each, and can be purchased all together for $19.99, a $9.95 discount as opposed to buying them separately. In addition, the main game will have an MSRP of $49.99, and will come in a Digital Deluxe package for $69.99, which includes the full game and all six Cross Tag Character Packs.

In an interview with Destructoid, Blazblue series producer Toshimichi Mori talked about the initial messaging faults regarding the DLC:

We’ve been making efforts to make the price accessible for everyone, but we should have communicated it a lot more clearly though so we didn’t have that misunderstanding. Our first mistake was announcing [fighter] Blake as downloadable content before saying he was free. What should have happened is that we should have said Blake is coming as downloadable content for free. But because of so many events late last year and early this year, we wanted to announce things little by little. Unfortunately the first announcement was muddled. We said Blake was downloadable content but we should have announced it all at once. That caused confusion and Arc is very sorry for that.

Blazblue Cross Tag Battle will be available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC on June 5, 2018.
