Bandai Namco Is Indeed Working On Metroid Prime 4

By Todd BlackFebruary 9, 2018
Metroid Prime 4

At E3 2017, we asked a lot from Nintendo. The Switch had just come out, and though it had a strong enough start (and a fantastic finish as we would find out), we wanted big news, and we got. Numerous announcements, numerous reveals, and the thing that would set every Nintendo fanboy and fangirl of…the announcement of Metroid Prime 4.

But, not long after the announcement was the reveal that Metroid Prime 4 wouldn’t be made by Retro Studio, who made the first three Metroid Prime titles. So, who’s making Prime 4? Well, according to sources close to Eurogamer, it’s going to be Bandai Namco.

Now, before you start raging or questioning this, do realize two things. One, Bandai Namco helped develop Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. And two, they were the ones who made Pokken Tournament. So they have experience with Nintendo core franchises.

Eurogamer also reports that it’s specifically Bandai Namco Singapore who will be making the game. This team has members of Lucasfilm Singapore, who were going to make Star Wars 1313 before it got canceled.

The Metroid series was once one of Nintendo’s best series, part of the “trinity” of characters that the publisher super famous (Mario and Link were the other ones, obviously). But when the N64 era hit, Metroid wasn’t there (outside of Smash Bros). Then, in the Gamecube era, Metroid Prime arose, took Samus Aran to the 3D world and rocked our own worlds for three different titles. Then came Other M…and Federation Force…which we don’t talk about.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of hope and expectations with Metroid Prime 4, and we hope that Bandai Namco (if this is true), lives up to the expectations.
