PCGamer’s Large Pixel Collider is a fucking beast and then some

By Keith MitchellNovember 18, 2013

Those crazy assed folks over at PCGamer Mazagain are up to no good again. This time around they are tempting the fates with their latest experiement, The Large Pixel Collider. Gang when I say that this PC is beauty and the beast all in one, well you’ll just have to take my word for it….. it’s simply awe-inspiring. But enough of me rambling and instead let me lay out what this baby has inside of her. Yes I said her as I could make sweet PC loving to this box… ahem!

pc_1

  • An Intel Core i7-4960X
  • 64GB of Corsair ram
  • (4) Nvidia Titans in quad-SLI
  • Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 motherboard
  • 4TB Western Digital Black Edition drive
  • 480GB Corsair SSD
  • Corsaid AX1200i (1200 Watt) PSU
  • Custom XSPC Razor GPU Water Block

That’s got to be at least $9000.00 worth of parts in this thing, maybe more.

In so many words I can only say “Holy Shit”, is there anything that this beast won’t be able to run? And you know what? It’s not done, oh no. The LPC will be an ongoing project and will be upgraded over time to keep it in spec….. who are we kidding, is there a PC outside of a super computer that can top this thing? if anything this is the benchmark that all PC gamers will want to get to for their PC’s, mine included. You know it’s serious when someone says “It’s not enough ram”. Seriously when is it ever enough?

You can follow the adventures of the LPC by heading over to http://lpc.pcgamer.com/ and you can also follow it over at Twitter https://twitter.com/pixelcollider, but be careful. I don’t think those guys fully understand what they’ve done, I think this thing is sentient.
