PUBG Corp CEO Wants PUBG On Every Platform

By Keith MitchellJanuary 2, 2018
PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

Not the first time we’ve heard this

PUBG on Xbox One

Needless to say that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG as it’s called to is immensely popular. It took off on the PC, despite being an Early Access title (which normally have a bad perception). It brought in tons of money for the company and is easily the most played game on Steam. Now it’s on the Xbox One platform and is enjoying a nice run on that console as well.

But it looks like Chang Han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp isn’t content with this. In fact, he wants to get the game on every platform. This was mentioned in a recent interview with Invenglobal.com.

As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now. If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.

Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of PUBG heading elsewhere (in the console space). This was a hot question when Microsoft was promoting the game. And everywhere wanted to know if it would come to the PlayStation. Of course, we never got a direct answer to this and was always told that “we always wanted to have the game on other platforms”. Basically echoing what was recently stated.  So the chances of PUBG going outside of the Xbox brand isn’t outside the realm of possibilities. And I’m all for that. It’s a fun game, and I think everyone needs to be able to enjoy it.

However, the game does make use of Microsoft’s technologies (Azure) as well as their internal resources (Coalition). Getting on other non-MS platforms would seem to be a sticky situation. It was thanks to Microsoft’s involvement that PUBG received some much-needed optimization. Which also brought over vaulting and climbing, features that were sorely needed. I love that I can get the drop on people or run from them, thanks to vaulting. Seriously, thank you for that!

That all said, PUBG on the Xbox One has been doing wonders for the system. The game is super popular in Japan and China. And it seems that Xbox One sales, both the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, are going up thanks to that popularity. Selling one million copies in two days is no small feat.
