Super Mario Odyssey Sold 1.1 Million Copies In US In 5 Days

So…yeah, that happened. Word spread like wildfire when Super Mario Odyssey sold over 2 million in its first 3 days. But now, a just as impressive feat has been revealed by Nintendo themselves. For as they revealed on Twitter and in a press release, Super Mario Odyssey has sold 1.1 million units in just the US alone in 5 days. But what adds to that, is that the game is now the fastest selling Mario game of all time. Needless to say, Nintendo is really happy about this:

“The public continues to respond positively to Mario’s latest adventure,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “We’re also seeing sales momentum for Nintendo Switch thanks to an ever-growing catalog of games from large publishers and indie developers.”

To put even more context on things. Nintendo also revealed that in just the US alone, 2.6 million Switches have been sold. This number includes the month of October. So…basically…50% of the US fanbase has a copy of Super Mario Odyssey. And you know that number will rise, especially with the holiday season coming up.

Stay tuned, we’ll be dropping our review of Super Mario Odyssey very soon, and we’ll be talking about our adventures in the game during the next Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!
