The Mummy Demastered Is Out In Less Than Two Weeks

By Ramy Abou-settaOctober 12, 2017

WayForwards The Mummy Demastered, will be releasing on the 24th of October. That gives us less than two weeks to blab on about it. Releasing on all major consoles and PC, it’s sure to be a seller. With no price information released as of yet, we have reached out to WayForward for more information.

So what is this game about you may ask? Well, this is a “Metroidvania” styled game, for the people that don’t know what that is, it’s “a sub-genre of the action-adventure video game with gameplay concepts similar to the Metroid series and some games of the Castlevania series”. A 16-bit 2D sidescroller with a lot of action and exploration in basic terms.

What makes this game special, it’s based on the rebooted Blockbuster movie that released this summer just gone. The Mummy, and the game is fully licensed by Universal. Which would not be the first time that WayForward has worked on a major movie title, as this would be a spiritual successor to their previous installment, Aliens Infestation. We do not have a lot of information about the story just yet, however, what we do know is that we will not be playing as Tom Cruise’s character Nick Morton. No, in fact we will be playing as an unnamed soldier who works under Henry Jekyll’s Prodigium organization.

The Mummy Demastered

This game takes a very interesting approach to punishing you for “Death” or “Failure”. That being, whenever you die, you turn to the evil side, so under the control of Ahmanet, and are now trying to kill yourself. Crazy right? Furthermore, your undead vigilante, posses all the upgrades and skills you had before you died. Giving this game such an interesting concept.

Your objective? Kill anything and everything in your way. Of course, until you get to the final boss, which if your a fan of The Mummy series you will adore. The final boss being princess Ahmanet and her giant mutant spider.

The Mummy Demastered, is a very interesting take on a classic movie franchise. Keep this game on your radar, if you love The Mummy films or retro-styled games.
