Reggie Fils-Aime Talks Nintendo In 2018

Nintendo is having a big year. Massive even. It launched its most successful mobile game (that it itself made) in Fire Emblem Heroes, it had a very successful launch with the Switch, and has been doing great in regards to releasing major titles on it to keep players entertained. They’re embracing both the indie and 3rd party developers on their new console. The 3DS is alive and well. And arguably best of all, they have not one, but TWO major Game of the Year contenders in Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

But, September is halfway over, and we’re getting closer to 2018, where Nintendo’s path is a little more shrouded in mystery. What do they plan to do with the Switch? With the 3DS? Their mobile games? Their expansion ideas? Well, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime sat down with Variety at their Entertainment and Technology Summit and talked about just that. And you’ll here some interesting tidbits in this minute-plus interview:

As you can see, Nintendo has a lot planned for 2018, and it’s not really a surprise. One tidbit that is very interesting is how he notes that Switch sales will continue to bring major 3rd party games to the table, which coincides with the recent Direct which saw the announcement of Doom and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus coming to the Switch. Could more be planned? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, check the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, as they celebrate their 50th episode with some fun segments all dedicated to the Big N!
