“Lore” Trailer Brings The Podcast To The Streaming Screen

By Sara Roncero-MenendezSeptember 13, 2017

Lore is one of two podcasts that have been developed into TV shows so far (the other being StartUp and with Homecoming in development) and it’s no surprise. These short little insights into the terrifying history and folklore of the world have captivated audiences across the globe.

The show will function much like the podcast, with the host Aaron Mahnke giving us a short intro in that soothing voice of his before diving into the tales of dark and terrifying lore. However, the show seems to go one step further and will have a cast to re-enact different stories, like with a man tormenting his wife because he believes she is a changeling or the creepy tale of Robert the Doll who could move (and kill) on his own. The cast includes actors like Robert Patrick, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Adam Goldberg, Holland Roden, Colm Feore and Campbell Scott.

There will be six episodes total this round, though there could be more if it is picked up for a second season down the line. The show is executive produced by Gale Anne Hurd of The Walking Dead and Glen Morgan of The X-Files, along with several others.

Mahnke’s Lore franchise is also expanding into the world of books, with the first in a trilogy, entitled “The World of Lore” coming out on October 10th, just three days before the debut of the show, with the others to follow shortly after.

“‘Lore’ is a unique hybrid series that presents meticulously-researched true life tales through a variety of mediums, in order to surprise and delight, and even unsettle,” says Conrad Riggs, Head of Unscripted, Amazon Originals in a statement. “We are thrilled to once again provide Prime members unprecedented access into a world they thought they knew.”

Lore premieres on Amazon on October 13, 2017.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
