SDCC 2017 – Todd McFarlane, Blumhouse Team Up for ‘Spawn’ Reboot

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieJuly 22, 2017

Todd McFarlane has found a partner for the upcoming Spawn movie, revealing the news during San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

In a Facebook video on Friday, McFarlane announced that he just signed with Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions, the company behind Insidious and Jordan Peele’s Get Out.

McFarlane finished the script for the R-rated reboot just last year, and has been painstakingly searching for a studio to pick the title up where he would retain full creative control.

Unlike the 1997 Spawn movie starring Michael Jai White which was more of a superhero movie, this iteration will be more in Blumhouse’s wheelhouse, the horror and thriller genres. More information will be coming soon about the reboot, however, it is reported that McFarlane wants to spend around $10 million on the movie.
