You Still Play As Link In Second Breath of the Wild DLC

By Todd BlackJuly 7, 2017
Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Champions Ballad Legend of Zelda Supporting Characters

The first DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been out for a week now, but players are already looking forward to the second part of the DLC, a part that will add to the story of the game. Called “The Champion’s Ballad” (after the song noted in the game), many are wondering what it will bring. The trailer for the DLC seemed to show the Champions (Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk and Revali) in playable forms, as they each had weapons on them in their character art. But…

…that doesn’t seem to be the case. Or at least, not in the case many are hoping for. For Eiji Aonuma, producer of Breath of the Wild, said apparently that Link will be who you play as in the DLC. Here’s the tweet that confirmed it:

Mr Aonuma confirmed you’ll still play as Link in The Champions’ Ballad, but learn more about #Zelda along the way pic.twitter.com/DvRbvQuOeb

What’s interesting here is that line about learning more about Zelda. What could that mean? Could we have an adventure with her, and learn more about the princess? This also raises questions about the Champions themselves. If we aren’t playing as them, then what are they doing in this DLC? Will they be companions in fighting? Or something else?

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see when The Champions Ballad arrives this Holiday. Remember, you have to buy the Expansion Pass for Breath of the Wild to get this DLC.
