Spider-Man Brings More Superhero Experiences to PlayStation VR

By Yhani JonesJune 20, 2017

There is no denying that this summer is “Spidey Season.” With all of the hype surrounding the upcoming movie, Spider-Man Homecoming, from Marvel Studios as well as the recently released gameplay footage of Insomniac’s Spider-Man, any other news relating to the famous web-slinger is icing on the cake!

Thanks to Sony Pictures, those with Oculus, Vive, and PlayStation VR headsets will get the chance to experience what it’s really like to be New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This free VR experience will become available beginning June 30th, which gives fans just enough time to test out his new web-shooters an entire week before the movie releases on July 7th.

Here’s a look at the Spider-Man Homecoming VR Experience trailer featuring the star of Spider-Man Homecoming himself, Tom Holland.

First, we get a Batman VR experience and now Spider-Man? What’s next? Is there a chance that this is just the beginning, the first of many superhero experiences to eventually enter our VR headsets down the line? I sure hope so!

Personally, I believe that special VR experiences similar to these are here to stay. After the success of the superhero genre and its growth over the past 10 years, the two different mediums (games and movies) can find a way to include fans and their favorite films into fun and exciting interactive experiences. That being said, VR seems to be the perfect platform to accomplish this with.

Though this is just my take on the VR space, I have plenty of hope for a possible Iron Man VR experience in the near future!
