Notable News & Events for Anime Expo 2017

By Josh PiedraJune 15, 2017
Anime Expo

Anime Expo is drawing near and the closer we get, news about notable guests and events begin to pour out of every nook, cranny and crevice of the internet. Events such as anime premieres, documentaries, cosplay contests, AMV contests and much, MUCH more await anime and manga fans alike!  So far, here is just some of what is coming your way in Los Angeles on July 1-4!

3rd Digimon Adventure tri Film World Premiere

Digimon Adventure tri – Chapter 3: Confession will make its premiere on Friday, July 1 at 10:30 AM PDT. Joshua Seth (Tai), Jeff Nimoy (Tentomon) and Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Sora) will be in attendance for a Q&A Session. Digimon Adventure tri – Chapter 2: Determination will be on sale at Anime Expo ahead of its August 15 release date.

MyAnimeList.net describes the story of the film as follows:

Meicoomon vanishes into the distorted abyss. Shaken, Tai and the others search for answers about Meicoomon’s infection. Koushirou seeks answers from Meiko but she’s lost all emotion. Koushirou quarantines Agumon and the other Digimon in the office so that the infection can’t spread any further, but Patamon starts to show signs of the illness. Agumon and the others use Hikari’s voice to tell the team about an important secret concerning the Digital World.

Screening of Resident Evil: Vendetta

The CG animated film, Resident Evil: Vendetta, will have a screening on Saturday, July 1.  Kevin Dorman (Chris Redfield), John Demita (Glenn Arias), Director Alex Von David and Casting Director Mami Okada will hold a live Q&A Session. The first 9 minutes of the film can be viewed on YouTube below.

World Premiere of Kyoto Animation’s Violet Evergarden

The world premiere for Violet Evergarden is scheduled for Sunday, July 2. Director Taichi Ishidate, Yui Ishikawa (Violet Evergarden) and TRUE (Band responsible for the anime’s OP) will have a Q&A Session at the screening. The anime is scheduled to begin airing in January 2018.

MyAnimeList.net describes the story of Violet Evergarden as follows:

Auto Memories Doll.

It’s been quite a while since that name caused a fuss. Originally invented by Professor Orland solely for his beloved wife, Auto Memories Dolls eventually spread out into the world, and a machine that allows people to rent out the dolls was also created.

“I will run as fast as I can to wherever my customer desires. I am the Auto Memories Doll, Violet Evergarden.”

A girl who almost appears to have popped out of a fairy tale with her blonde hair and blue eyes said this with her inorganic beauty and sweet voice.

We Are X Screening to Host YOSHIKI

YOSHIKI

On Sunday, July 2 from Noon – 2PM PDT, there is a screening for the documentary We Are X, focusing on one of the most iconic and popular Japanese rock bands in history, X Japan. Band leader YOSHIKI will be in attendance for the screening as well as a Q&A Session. We Are X is also sponsoring Anime Expo’s World Cosplay Summit’s U.S. Preliminaries.
