2XKO on Console
Riot Games’ 2XKO has been one of the most anticipated fighters in years, but it originally launched on PC only. Now it has leapt onto the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and is available to play. The game features a thrilling tag system that lets you chain ridiculous combos together solo or with a friend.
Like League of Legends, it’s also free-to-play, so you won’t have to spend a cent to jump in. That said, you’ll need to earn in-game currency to unlock the full roster and cosmetics 2XKO offers. You can currently play as the likes of Jinx, Ahri, and Blitzcrank, and they all feel distinct. This is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about fighting games of 2026.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game
The Cabbage Merchant should watch out, as masters of all four elements will be throwing hands in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. The adaptation has the FGC excited thanks to its hand-drawn animation, engaging combos, and overall aesthetic. It’s also backed by legendary fighting game player Justin Wong, who is acting as Community Manager and Ambassador for the project.
Characters from The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra will be playable, and the game is currently scheduled to launch this Summer on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Sorry, Xbox One owners.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
A tag team game that’s been on the minds of MvC fans is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. This is Arc System Works’ take on the tag team formula with 4v4 action. Visually, it’s outstanding, blending anime/manga energy with comic book style. Stages also appear to feature multiple platforms, similar to Guilty Gear Strive.
Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Captain America, Storm, and Ms. Marvel have already been confirmed, and the potential here is massive, even with some mixed early feedback from beta impressions. It’s also been reported that the game will be supported for a long time.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches sometime in 2026 for PS5 and PC, and it’s being published by PlayStation.
My Hero Academia: All’s Justice
Releasing on February 5, My Hero Academia: All’s Justice pits Deku and other characters against three opponents in 3v3 combat. It adapts the final story arc of the series, which recently wrapped up. While this isn’t the MHA RPG I’ve wanted for years, All’s Justice should still deliver a fun 3D arena fighter experience.
The game also features a new open world-like mode that lets you explore the city around U.A. High School. Bandai Namco says it will feature the largest roster of characters from the series yet.
We had great things to say about the game during our MY HERO ACADEMIA: All’s hands-on preview.
Invincible VS
Invincible VS is another superhero fighter on the horizon for 2026, and it stands out immediately thanks to its brutality. It’s also a team fighter like other entries on this list, but it’s far gorier in a way that fits the source material. Expect plenty of super moves and ultimates that leave absolute carnage behind.
Fans of the show may also be happy to know there’s a brand-new original narrative in Invincible VS, complete with cinematics. The developer Quarter Up includes veterans from the Killer Instinct reboot team, so this one has serious potential when it launches on April 30, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Royalty Free-For-All
This indie fighter has a genuinely wild hook: it pulls its roster from the public domain. In a wacky cartoon art style, you’ll be throwing hands as characters like Lancelot, Nessie, and Sweeney Todd in settings that include The Hundred Acre Wood and Old MacDonald’s farm.
Even better, the developer promises rollback netcode, and says on the game’s Steam page that you’ll get “good online in both 1v1 Quickplay and private lobbies for up to four players.” Royalty Free-For-All is targeting PC and consoles, hopefully in 2026, and it could end up being a hidden gem.
Virtua Fighter Project
Possibly the most hyped fighting game right now is Virtua Fighter Project, which is just the working name for the next entry. But most fans have already taken to calling it Virtua Fighter 6. The gameplay shown so far looks intense, fisticuff-heavy, and gritty. Not much is known about the project yet, but it’s great to see Sega returning to the series with a new numbered entry after all these years.
No release date has been shared for Virtua Fighter 6, but hopefully we’ll get more details soon, potentially at this year’s EVO. Fingers crossed it makes 2026, because if it does, this could easily end up being one of the best fighting games of the year.
