News for Sonic Racing: Crossroads was on the horizon ever since it was first announced in December at The Game Awards in 2024. At PlayStation State of Play today we got a whole slice of great visuals for the game. The trailer showed off new worlds and new ways to race in the game.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings back courses that include land, air, and sea terrain as well as the never-before seen Travel Rings feature that affects the race in real time by transporting racers to all new CrossWorlds during the race. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also offers the largest roster of characters in any Sonic racing game, as well as a wide variety of customizable vehicles. Players can mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style. -Press Release
Luckily the CrossWorlds moniker does mean that they will be racing throughout a variety of Sega franchises. We also get the return of the Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders. This information makes me hyped to see how much of Sega we can explore in the game. Hopefully we get more characters announced as well.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available soon on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
