CES 2025: Gunnar Optiks Preview

By Scott AdamsJanuary 7, 2025
Tech preview template for Gunnar 2025

While Gunnar Optiks was getting themselves ready for their time at CES 2025, they let me see a behind the scenes look at what was coming out in 2025. I am very thankful to Mike Volpe for giving me time to look and talk about what their next year is going to look like!

I have already talked a bit about their 2024 glasses and what they do but I do think it is important to recap. Gunnar Optiks likes to create innovative lens for glasses that helps save the eyes of those of us who use computers and looks at screens in a daily occurrence. That isn’t all they want to do with this technology and the future projects that will be coming down the line this year will help show that.

Clear Pro Lens

One critique about the Gunnar lens are due to the blue tint creating your own personal filter that you see. It creates colors to not be exactly the way they are. To make up for this and to gear glasses towards a demographic specifically to the graphic designers, graphic editors and photographers, Gunnar Optiks is making a Clear Pro lens line up. In this line up will be the Strata, Prismo and Arbor glasses.

Mineral Glass

The next line up on the docket is Mineral glass lenses. Mineral glass is often already used in camera lenses and telescopes. Mineral glass is scratch resistant and will be completely haze free. These lenses will be even clearer than current glasses material that is out there today.

Viscar

Viscar is a lens that looks like they are something you bring with you to go Skiing! So consider me surprised when I was then told that its focus was on high speed competitive gaming. The lens is made with a single Toric lens. You might be familiar with this as a lens that helps correct astigmatism, but it also has another effect, helping you focus.

Loop

The Loop may look like normal glasses but the interesting thing about them is how they have hinges that can turn 180 degrees. This makes the Loop model perfect for people with big heads or ears that are not perfectly symmetrical. You also don’t have to worry about the kids breaking the temples since they are attached to a hinge meant to turn much farther than the average pair of glasses.

Kista Collection

The Kista collection is next up on the docket. One thing that Mike Volpe talked about behind the scenes is how surprised the team is that there is a demographic they were getting more and more questions about, girls. The additions to the Kista collection is their response to that. A whole line of models dedicated to girls that is both fashionable and functional.

Dume

Dume is a model that the team at Gunnar Optiks is very proud of and for good reason. Have you ever worn glasses and got annoyed by the peripheral vision that is all blurry and can give you a headache if you focus on it too long? They have now added a eye shield to the side of the glasses that diverts your attention back to the front of the glasses.

Luma Collection

This next collection is divided in two, one is for guys known as the Fremont, and the other is Campbell and is for girls. A lens that is not only designed to block out the blue lights but is also one that looks good to wear.

Partners

Throughout the last year, Gunnar Optiks partnered up with some large IPs to deliver glasses with aesthetics and themes that are popular and nerdy. In 2025 they plan to partner up with more IP holders to deliver more interesting glasses and experiences. Confirmed partners include returning ones like Activision Blizzard and Amazon Studios. The team is excited to discuss more when they are allowed.

My time looking at the lenses and hearing about the excitement the team at GUNNAR have for the upcoming year is infectious. You can find all their current models at their website to order to try out their innovative new technology for yourself.
