New The Plucky Squire Update Brings Streamlined Mode and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Did you enjoy the indie darling The Plucky Squire as much as we did, but wished the game had a bit less hand-holding? Well, you’re in luck! All Possible Futures, the developer behind The Plucky Squire, has released a new update—available now on PC and coming soon to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch—that dials back the handholding, giving players a more independent experience.

The new Streamlined Mode trims unnecessary dialogue, reduces or removes camera hints, cuts down on tutorial content, and ensures the game takes control away from the player far less often. Many players felt that frequent interruptions hindered an otherwise amazing experience, and it’s great to see that All Possible Futures has listened to feedback and implemented these changes.

That’s not all—this update also introduces stylish dialogue portraits for the major characters, along with general bug fixes and other small improvements.

If you skipped The Plucky Squire due to the heavy handholding, there’s no excuse now. And while the original game had its quirks, we thoroughly enjoyed it, as noted in our The Plucky Squire review.

The Plucky Squire is a wonderful experience from start to finish. I just wish that the 3D sections were on par with those in 2D. Regardless, this is a title that everyone needs to play, because they won’t be disappointed.

The Plucky Squire is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. And yes, it runs on the Steam Deck too, in case you were wondering.
