Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door On Switch Has Surpassed Original Version’s Sales

Now can we PLEASE get a true sequel?

Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door Review

Sometimes, the most basic of news stories can be the most meaningful. We’ve been writing a lot about Nintendo today due to the financial briefing that dropped earlier. It revealed all sorts of data, including the total sales of gaming titles The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. However, that’s not the only title that got an update on its sales. Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door was remastered/remade for the Switch back in May, and while it hasn’t been setting the sales charts on fire, it has done really well for itself.

The briefing noted that the game has sold 1.94 million units since launch, which is a solid number. What’s important here is that the original version on the GameCube sold just 1.91 million in its entire lifetime! That means it’s already outpaced the OG version, and the sales will likely pass two million soon enough, especially with Black Friday coming up. Hopefully, this will show Nintendo that fans want this kind of Paper Mario title, and thus, make a proper sequel to Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door. We’ve only been asking for it for twenty-plus years!
