Legend of Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom Director Talks Creating The Numerous Echoes

Remember, there were over 100!

Legend of Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom

I’ve been talking a lot about The Legend of Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom since its release in September, and for a good reason! As I noted in my review, the game is really fun, and the “Echoes” mechanic is easily one of the most unique things the franchise has ever created. With over a hundred different echoes for Princess Zelda to use in the game, the title encourages creativity in how you use them. I can speak from personal experience that I’m pretty sure I used some echoes differently than the game and dev teams expected.

As for how the team came up with the echoes, though, Co-director Satoshi Terada revealed to Famitsu that it started with the locations where the echoes would be received and then built up to handle certain events:

“We first thought about how many echoes each region should have, then after considering using regions from the series’ past, we also thought ‘what experiences would be unique to each region?’ Furthermore, we also tried to prepare ‘things we think would be interesting’. Because there were a lot of echoes, we tried to make each and every one’s unique characteristics stand out to differentiate them.”

Even the pot echoes in the game had slight tweaks to their speed to make them stand out. If you haven’t played The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom yet, you should try it out and see which echoes you use the most!
