Baby Steps, Skate Story, And Stick It to the Stickman Delayed to 2025 Per Devolver Digital

By Sean GarmerNovember 30, 2024
Baby Steps

Devolver Digital have set themselves apart not only from their long history of finding and publishing great games, but also because they often have a laugh at the entire game industry in a hilarious manner. They’ve now even found a way to announce game delays in a lighthearted way with the 15th Annual Devolver Delayed Awards 2024. The video gave away mock awards to Baby Steps, Skate Story, and Stick It to the Stickman which are now releasing at some point in 2025.

Baby Steps

Made by Max Bochi, Gabe Cuzzillo, and Bennett Foddy, Baby Steps was shown off during a September 2023 PlayStation State of Play and brings a new meaning to walking simulator with physics based gameplay for “putting one foot in front of the other.” Making traversal its own puzzle, pushing players to figure out how to best walk down a hill or across a makeshift bridge. The game was originally supposed to release in 2024, but the highly anticipated title has been moved to 2025.

Skate Story

Made by Sam Eng, Skate Story was actually revealed in 2020 during the Summer of Gaming event and later re-revealed two years later in the 2022 Devolver Digital Showcase. Featuring music from Blood Cultures and a hellish landscape, the demonic main character kickflips and tricks all throughout the various locales of the underworld. Pairing standard skating gameplay with the reflective aesthetics and a brooding story promises to be an interesting combination. Hopefully we’ll actually see Skate Story Ollie its way to a surefire release in 2025.

Stick It to the Stickman

Have you ever wanted to become the CEO of the worst company in America? Well, now you can in Stick It to the Stickman from developers Free Lives. This Roguelike brawler sees you control a literal Stickman as you takedown all types of employees and bosses with a wide variety of moves. Featuring an upgradeable skillset that includes a throwable coffee cup and farts, the physics based combat promises to deliver fun on every run when it releases in TBA 2025.

Sadly, this is actually the second time both Skate Story and Stick It to the Stickman have been delayed, as they were both in the Devolver Digital Delayed Awards last year as well. Becoming the only two games moved to 2024 that didn’t see a full release. Hopefully for Baby Steps this will be the only time we’ll have to see it be delayed.

Ending on a positive note, the games that did release in 2024 for Devolver Digital received strong critical reception with Anger Foot getting a 78 on Open Critic. Not to mention, glowing praise for Pepper Grinder and The Plucky Squire in our own reviews too.
