Astro Bot Has Sold 1.5 Million Units Per Sony

By Sean GarmerNovember 8, 2024
Astro Bot

ASTRO Bot released on September 6 of this year to much critical aplomb and equally similar praise from gamers. Since its release, sales figures have been scarce with most analyst reports comparing sales data for Astro Bot to other games in the same genre or comparing its sales to previous games in the series. Beyond this, thanks to monthly data from Circana, we learned Astro Bot had achieved some modicum of success by placing second in the month of September for US sales.

Finally after parsing through all of this speculative data, Sony announced during its recent earnings call that as of November 3, 2024, ASTRO Bot has sold 1.5 Million units. Furthermore, they revealed that 37% of these purchasers had not bought a Sony first-party title in the last two years. Meaning that Astro Bot helped bring another type of audience to Sony’s first-party lineup that may not be interested in The Last of Us or God of War

Astro Bot currently has one of the highest critical ratings of the year with a 94 on Metacritic and a 95 on Opencritic. our review of Astro Bot we praised its sense of joy and ultimate celebration of gaming’s rich history.

Currently, the game is in its fourth week of releasing free Speedrun DLC, with the fourth level “Helium Heights” releasing yesterday and the final fifth level set to release on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
