It was announced that Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel, Anne of Green Gables, will receive a television anime adaptation! The anime is expected to premiere in April 2025.
The novel, originally published in 1908, is described as follows:
Anne of Green Gables tells the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan taken in by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert in Prince Edward Island, a beautiful small island in Canada. Anne’s overwhelming imagination and beautiful heart, which have supported her difficult circumstances up to the age of 11, gradually changes the hearts of those around her.
This isn’t the first time that Japan adapted the classic work as it had been given a TV anime series twice before. The first one aired in 1979 and the second in 2009.
