Metaphor ReFantazio Reaches Over 1 Million in Worldwide Sales at Launch

Metaphor ReFantazio

Undoubtedly, 2024 has been an incredible year for Atlus. Earlier this year they released a remake of a beloved game in Persona 3 Reload and then not too long after that they teamed with Vanillaware in releasing a new Tactical RPG Unicorn Overlord. Today Atlus launches another new IP in Metaphor ReFantazio and it already set a new record for the company.

Atlus announced today that Metaphor ReFantazio has surpassed 1 Million in sales worldwide on its launch day. Using A.I. translation done by PC Gamer , the website post indicates that this number includes the amount of physical units shipped and digital sales together. Making it the fastest-selling Atlus game in its history. Beating the previous mark of five days set earlier this year by Persona 3 Reload. The aforementioned Unicorn Overlord by comparison also hit one million sales recently as well, but did so in a seven month period.

In an era where so many video game companies have a hard time hitting sales targets with firmly established franchises, Atlus accomplishing this with two new IP’s, and one of them on its initial launch day, is nothing short of a major feat. Certainly its past Persona pedigree helped create initial buzz, but with the recently released demo it seems to have kicked that hype into overdrive leading to the record breaking performance seen today.

If you are wondering what Metaphor ReFantazio is all about, the demo, (which we previewed) is available on all release platforms, (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC) and be sure to check out our review of the game as well.
