Will The Nintendo Switch 2 Keep Current Switch’s Online Platform?

If so, prepare for some transfers!
By Todd BlackSeptember 9, 2024
Nintendo's online service for the Nintendo Switch 2

While we wait for…well…anything…news-wise about the Nintendo Switch 2, plenty of people are speculating about what the next system will be and what it will have. For example, do you remember the leaker Midori? Well, they’re apparently back! Not just that, but they made a big predictions that the Switch 2 will have the “exact online structure” of the OG Switch, which would be a big boon to gamers if that’s the case. How so? Well, as “Ryan” notes, it means that one could use their shared online account to download games on the new system without losing their data from the older one.

Switch 2 uses almost the same exact online structure as the current Nintendo Switch, except it adds additional functionality as well.

This is something we actually talked about recently on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast. It would be a smart move to make this happen as it would prompt people to go to the new system and enjoy its upgrades while still playing the Switch games they love. Just to be clear, until the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially announced and this is confirmed, you need to consider this rumor and speculation.
