Remnant 2 Final DLC “The Dark Horizon” Gets Release Date and Free Boss Mode

By Keith MitchellSeptember 10, 2024

Gunfire Games and Arc Games have finally revealed the final DLC for the amazing Remnant 2, and it’s getting much more than many had expected. With the final DLC, The Dark Horizon, players will return to N’Erud for an all-new storyline, a new glider traversal system that will help travel across the world much quicker, the new Warden Archetype, and a new Boss Rush mode. Of course, there will be new gear as well, but what has me most interested is that Boss Rush mode.

Let’s see what this is all about!

This new Boss Rush mode will offer up three difficulty options; Triple Threat (3 bosses), Trial by Fire (7 bosses), and The Gauntlet (19 bosses). Gunfire Games hasn’t been specific on how this mode will work and which bosses will be available, since the game before this DLC includes 28 bosses. I wonder if the bosses will be rotated out.  In addition to that, this can be played via solo or multiple players, will include random buffs, and a chance to get access to gear that is specific to the Boss Ross mode.

The Boss Rush mode is also being provided as a free update, so you won’t need to own the season pass for the game and will be able to play with everyone else. This sounds like a few of my friends will need to get off their asses and help me get through this. You know who you are, there’s no need for me to point you out.

Remnant 2 Dark Horizon Boss RushThe new Archetype, the Warden, has my attention, as it will be yet another class that includes another companion. The Warden will have access to a small drone companion that can provide offensive, defensive, and support options. It sounds like this might be a great class to have on those boss runs; assuming we’ll be able to figure out how to access it.

Last but still important, Gunfire Games is adding a new upgrade for the Fragment levels. Details are sketchy at the moment, but it seems like players will be able to change up existing fragments and make some more useful. More info on that to come.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t played the first Remnant 2 DLCs, The Awakened King and the Forgotten Kingdom, you really should check those both out.

Remnant 2’s final DLC, Dark Horizon releases on September 24, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
