PlayStation Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary With New Hardware

By Jordan AndowSeptember 19, 2024

Recently, PlayStation confirmed a rumor that it would be releasing some sort of special edition version of its console to celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. Not only did it announce a special edition of the currently available PlayStation 5 Digital, but also the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal. Accessories weren’t left out either, as a special edition of the DualSense and DualSense Edge are also getting special editions and will be sold separately.

The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be released on November 21, 2024. 12,300 units of the PlayStation 5 Pro Console—30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle will be available for customers to purchase, with limited edition numbers etched onto the unit. The number represents the month and date of the first PlayStation console launch.

Here’s what’s included in that bundle.

PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundle

  • PlayStation 5 Pro
  • DualSense
  • DualSense Edge
  • DualSense Charging Station
  • Console Cover for a Disc Drive *You still need to purchase a disc drive*
  • Vertical Stand
  • Original controller-style cable connector
  • Four PlayStation Shapes cable ties
  • Sticker
  • Limited Edition Poster
  • Paperclip

Disc drive, DualSense, and the DualSense Edge controllers will be sold separately.

Preorders for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection products will begin on September 26th from PlayStation Direct if it is available in your region. If not, PlayStation has plans for you to acquire the hardware at local retailers.

The DualSense and the DualSense Edge controllers will be sold separately

You can check the PlayStation Blog for further pre-order details.

If you want to look at the new hardware, I recommend checking out the video below.

Keep in mind that the PlayStation 5 Pro is limited to just 21,300 consoles, and it’s sure to sell out quickly. Whether it’s dedicated gamers or resellers looking to flip them on eBay for double or triple the original price, the demand will be fierce. If you’re even considering it, you’d better commit—otherwise, you might end up regretting it

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
