The Legend of Heroes: Trails In The Sky 1st Announced

By Scott AdamsAugust 27, 2024

Fans of the Legend of Heroes series were shocked to see a game appear in the sizzle reel of the Nintendo Direct, Trails In The Sky 1st. That’s right, it is now confirmed that the title that Falcom was remaking is Trails in the Sky FC. Even though the Nintendo Direct of America had only a brief shot of the game, in Japan Nintendo had a whole trailer.

This whole trailer makes me smile. The models look so good, the colors are brighter and show a positive aura around the game. This is perfect for the beginning of Trails in the Sky 1st because it is all about seeing Estelle and Joshua fulfill their dreams of becoming bracers. There is so much hope and optimism in the designs of the characters and it will have such a different vibe from the current arc going on in Daybreak.

In terms of mechanics, it looks like they brought in some aspects of Daybreak such as getting into fights instantly. Looks like Joshua fights with Swin’s stance instead of his stance from the Cold Steel games or his original stance in Trails In The Sky FC. Not sure how I feel about that, or if it will change further down the line of its production.

My favorite part of looking into the assets from Nintendo of Europe is the translation. It looks like the text is directly the same as the release from XSeed Games on the PSP and PC.

I really hope we get an English dub with this remake. Hearing some of Estelle’s most famous lines coming out of my screen is going to be a dream come true! If it isn’t well time for some ULTRAVIOLENCE!

The interesting thing is there is no name attached for a publisher, neither XSeed Games nor NIS America has talked about the game. The only name it shows on the trailer is Falcom. This might be an English localization done straight from Falcom so they don’t have to deal with the messy situation that is the Trails In The Sky rights issue.

If you are curious about where this game fits in the Trails series you can check out our guide on the site. I will be honest, this game fits as the first game in the Trails series. This is the definitive place to start the game. You can wait for the remake or grab the original on Steam!

The Legend of Heroes: Trails In The Sky 1st will be released 2025 on Nintendo Switch, and odds are other platforms that will be revealed in the future.
