Sega Drops New Sonic X Shadow Generations Trailer and It Looks Amazing

Sega has gotten a jump on the Gamescom 2024 hype train and has released a new trailer for Sonic X Generations, starring none other than Shadow. In this new trailer, we get to see a sample of several new stages and Shadow’s new power, Doom, which lets him blast anything in his way and traverse around levels.

These new Doom powers also let him do various other cool-looking abilities as he plays through his very own story mode. Doom Blast and Doom Spears are damage-dishing abilities, while Doom Morph, Doom Wing, and Doom Surf help Shadow get around stages. They also give Shadow a different playstyle and allow him to stand out against his counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog.

This trailer has sold me on the game. Initially, I was on the fence, as I had already played Sonic Generations and I wasn’t sure just how much effort was being put into this upgraded title.

Check out the trailer below.

From surfing on water to flying over obstacles, the trailer is filled with high-speed gameplay and highlights the new abilities, stages such as Chaos Island from Sonic Frontiers, and boss challenges fans can expect to play through this fall.

That said, keep in mind that with the release of this new game, Sonic Generations is going away. As of September 9, 2024, Sonic Generations will be delisted on all platforms and has already been removed from the Xbox platform. The upside is that the game is being discounted, so definitely pick it up if you haven’t and don’t have any plans on getting Sonic X Generations.

Therefore, Sonic Generations will still be available via bundles of other iconic Sonic titles on Steam and Xbox. Existing owners of the title will still be able to download and play, as well. Lastly, we are happy to confirm that mods on the Steam version will NOT be affected!

Sonic X Shadow Generations releases both digitally and physically on October 25, 2024, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, priced at $49.99
