Final Fantasy XVI Heads to PC in September – It’s Finally Happening

By Keith MitchellAugust 19, 2024
Final Fantasy XIV heading to PC

It only took a full year and some months, but the impossible is happening. Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XVI is heading to the PC on September 17, 2024. When the game was first announced it was supposed to be headed to the PlayStation 5 and the PC, but thanks to game exclusivity deals, the PC version “disappeared,” and Square Enix was quiet on what happened it to.

But that’s water under the bridge, right? When Final Fantasy XVI Hits PC next month, it will be available on not just the Epic Games Store, but also on Steam. Something that I’m sure countless PC gamers will appreciate.  Two versions of the game will be available: the base version for $49.99, and the Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition, priced at $69.99, which includes all released DLCs, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.

As an added bonus, Square Enix has released a demo for the PC version that can be placed on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

It’s a great time if you’re either a Final Fantasy fan on the PC or if you’re double-dipping on an amazing Final Fantasy title.

Sadly, it does warrant mention that Square Enix elected to use Denvuo for this title. We all know how I feel about Denuvo, and if you don’t… I’m not a fan of it. Either due to the issues it causes with performance, or how it stops people from using multiple hardware such as when people are testing GPUs, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Here are the Final Fantasy XVI PC minimum and recommended requirements.

Minimum PC Requirements

    • OS: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
    • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 / Intel Core i5-8400
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 / Intel Arc A580 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 170 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: 30FPS at 720p expected. SSD required. VRAM 8GB or above.

Recommended PC Requirements:

    • OS: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
    • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X / Intel Core i7-10700
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 170 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: 60FPS at 1080p expected. SSD required. VRAM 8GB or above.

While you wait for the PC release of Final Fantasy XVI, check out our detailed PS5 review to see what awaits you on September 17.
