English One Piece Cast Joined The Anime Effect Podcast

By Josh PiedraAugust 2, 2024

The hosts of Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect set sail to Southern California to attend San Diego Comic-Con. There, live on stage, LeAlec Murray and guest host Josellie Rios welcomed three English voices from the mighty One Piece to the show.

One Piece

The duo got villainous with the voice of Donquixote Doflamingo Robert McCollum, voice of Blackbeard and Arlong Chris Rager, and the voice of Kuro Kent Williams. Right away, they broke the news that Kent Williams isn’t only voicing the Syrup Village Arc villain, he’ll be taking on the role of Dr. Vegapunk, an exclusive announcement on the SDCC stage.

Oh, and Critical Role creator and voice of Trafalgar D. Water Law Matthew Mercer swung by to say hi and talk about how much it means to him to play a role in the long-running anime. No big deal.

Back in at Crunchyroll HQ, LeAlec is joined by co-hosts Nicholas Friedman and Leah President to break down the anime news of the week, from the latest anime concerts to some of the bigger announcements from SDCC.

Launched on February 16, the inaugural episode of The Anime Effect podcast reached the #1 slot in the Manga and Animation Category on Apple Podcasts in the U.S., Mexico, Ireland, and Belgium and remains trending in 39 countries.

Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect is available worldwide in English on all major podcast platforms. New video episodes launch every Friday at 4 p.m. PT on YouTube and Crunchyroll!
