Hironobu Sakaguchi Shows No Interest in Working on Iconic Franchises Again

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the mastermind behind the legendary Final Fantasy series, has made it clear he has no desire to revisit his past creations. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Sakaguchi expressed his lack of interest in reviving Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, or Blue Dragon.

Sakaguchi stated he now sees himself more as a consumer than a creator. He believes working on the Final Fantasy brand again would hinder his ability to enjoy Final Fantasy XIV as much as he currently does. Despite fans’ hopes, Sakaguchi is not looking to bring his older titles to modern platforms.

Interestingly, Sakaguchi has shown an interest in reviving the 2014 mobile strategy game, Terra Battle. He is also finalizing the story for a new project with his current studio, Mistwalker. While details are scarce, Sakaguchi hinted, “We’ll say it’s something new, for now.”

Sakaguchi’s shift from creator to consumer marks a significant change in his career. It reflects his desire to enjoy gaming from a different perspective.
