Perfect Dark Gets Gameplay Trailer At Xbox Showcase

By Scott AdamsJune 10, 2024

At the Xbox Games Showcase, we got a great new trailer for Perfect Dark that shows off the gameplay. There were concerns about how well the situation was going with Perfect Dark but it looks like the game is in a much more stable position than was rumored.

We got to hear some familiar terms if you are someone who played the original Perfect Dark on the N64. The most interesting one is Daniel Carrington. In the original Perfect Dark, as well as in Perfect Dark Zero, Joanna Dark was an agent working under him initially. This game seems to be taking place before the original Perfect Dark since she is meant to go after him in this entry. Joanna Dark could still be working for DataDyne or some other agency, we do know she is still an agent under someone. Daniel Carrington is the world’s most dangerous criminal in this game. Joanna gets sent to capture him and that is what the story seems to start.

One thing I found interesting in this gameplay trailer was how often Joanna Dark was using parkour abilities. She would slide under crates and go over obstacles while still trying to shoot at enemies. It seems like Crystal Dynamics and The Initiative want to increase the speed of the gameplay compared to the older entries in the series. It looks fluid and makes me excited to see what more there is in store for this

There is no release date for Perfect Dark nor even a timeline so we have still got a long while before this game comes to fruition but it seems like there is a lot more substance to this game than the last time we saw it in 2020.
