Bandai Namco Continues Its Tekken 8 Suspension Run

By Kevin KellyApril 25, 2024

Bandai Namco issued more suspensions for Tekken 8’s accounts that violated their rules. After its’ receiving negative reviews last week on Steam, particularly for the new Tekkenshop clothing DLC revealing and online play issues, the company has upped the ante and continued to deal with those who violate the rules through manipulating matches. Bandai Namco has issued statements on twitter to discuss this further.

Account Suspensions – April 25, 2024

We've suspended #TEKKEN8 accounts involved in malicious and unauthorized activities, including:

🚫Intentional disconnects
🚫Cheating
🚫Inappropriate customizations / player names/ chat messages
🚫Idling during online matches

So are they banning people for clothing mods? I wanted to start using some

This action targets users who violated the End User License Agreement (EULA) after receiving multiple in-game reports. We plan to continue account suspensions against #TEKKEN8 players who break these game rules. Further updates as soon as new information is available.

In earlier months post release, Bandai Namco has given stern warnings to frequent ragequitters for lifetime bans from online play. During a Tekken 8 Live Update session, the topic was addressed at length with producers Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murry to translate. Bandai Namco would be looking for repeat offenders moretimes than the “one and done” quit. The company encouraged reporting and also recorded footage to be posted on twitter. Some FGC content creators have already done so to help the efforts.

The answer to the question of if the bans are improving the game’s online experience is still progress.
