Floating Points and Hikaru Utada Debut Somewhere Near Marseilles

By Josh PiedraApril 3, 2024

Milan Records today releases a new edit of HIKARU UTADA’s international hit “Somewhere Near Marseilles” by UK artist and producer FLOATING POINTS.

Hikaru Utada

Originally appearing on Utada’s 2022 album BAD MODE and garnering widespread critical acclaim from NPR, Pitchfork, The FADER, Slant, Brooklyn Vegan and more, “Somewhere Near Marseilles” has been transformed by Floating Points, who co-produced the original version. His “Somewhere Near Marseilles (Sci-Fi Edit)” finds the producer turning the slow-burning electronic meditation into a concentrated rush of club-ready escape. While retaining the emotional tension that powered the original record, the rework utilizes house elements to put an extra spring behind Utada’s longing – listen here.
