Studio Ghibli Fest Slate Announced For 2024

By Josh PiedraMarch 21, 2024

STUDIO GHIBLI FEST is back in theaters in its biggest year yet. In 2023, Studio Ghibli Fest broke box office records with the first-ever nationwide retrospective of director Hayao Miyazaki’s works.

Now, coming off the blockbuster theatrical release and triumphant Oscar® win for Hayao Miyazaki’s latest feature The Boy and the Heron, GKIDS and Fathom are thrilled for audiences to continue to celebrate this iconic studio, with an all-new selection of fan favorites and iconic titles alike. This year’s lineup highlights the works of studio co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, as well as directors Yoshifumi Kondo, Hiroyuki Morita, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi. In celebration of Hayao Miyazaki’s recent Oscar win, Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 kicks off with the acclaimed director’s previous Academy Award-winning feature, Spirited Away, which took home the Oscar in 2001. The lineup additionally includes special celebrations for the Howl’s Moving Castle 20th Anniversary, Kiki’s Delivery Service 25th Anniversary, and Pom Poko 30th Anniversary. GKIDS are proud to continue their partnership with Fathom and expand STUDIO GHIBLI FEST 2024 to even more play dates than ever to meet increased fan demand.

Each of the 14 animated features will be shown in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions and will include surprise special extra content as well. Tickets for STUDIO GHIBLI FEST 2024  go on sale starting March 22, and can be purchased online by visiting FathomEvents.com, GhibliFest.com or at participating theater box offices. (Theater participants are subject to change).

“The overwhelming success of our special tribute to Hayao Miyazaki in 2023 confirmed the enduring legacy of the Studio Ghibli films and the passion that fans have when it comes to seeing these classics in the theater,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “We’re excited to bring those very fans more of what they want this year, especially through another exciting collaboration with GKIDS.”

“Last year, millions of people had the magical experience of seeing Studio Ghibli on the big screen,” said GKIDS President David Jesteadt. “Whether audiences are seasoned fans celebrating the milestone anniversary titles, or just discovering Studio Ghibli after Hayao Miyazaki’s latest Oscar win, we are pleased to partner again with Fathom Events to provide this special opportunity for fans nationwide to see these animated masterworks the way the studio wants them to be seen.”

Specialty retailer Hot Topic will also be celebrating Studio Ghibli Fest 2024, offering a 25% discount for in-store purchases when attendees show their Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 ticket stub. Visit a Hot Topic store for more details.
