Final Fantasy XIV Online officially heads to Xbox on March 21st

Final Fantasy XIV Online

After what seems like forever, Xbox fans will finally be able to enter the world of Final Fantasy XIV (Final Fantasy 14) alongside PlayStation and PC players. The game will be released on March 21, 2024, and available on Xbox Series X|S.

Those who subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate will gain access to the Final Fantasy XIV Online Started Edition, which is a paid subscription. However, they must redeem the perk between March 21 and April 19, 2024. That said, a Final Fantasy XIV Online trial is available to download right now. This trial will allow Xbox players to play the game up to level 70, with all of the A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood content, with a few restrictions.

You won’t need an Xbox Game Pass subscription to play the free trial or open beta. However, you will need an Xbox Game Pass membership to play the full version. This is in addition to the subscription you’ll have to pay to Square Enix to play the game.

Final Fantasy XVI Online Xbox Starter Edition

I recommend playing through Final Fantasy XIV Online first, as this lets you play all the content available in the trial and starter edition and level up to 70. This is also free forever; you don’t need access to Xbox Game Pass to play it. Then, once you are ready, redeem the Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Edition, which will begin your 30-day subscription.

On the other hand, Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Edition is the only way to access the other expansions: Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and the upcoming Dawntrail.

**If it’s unclear, the Final Fantasy XIV Online trial has all the content as the Final Fantasy XIV Online Started Edition does, without the Game Pass requirement… at least for now on Xbox.**

It took forever, but Final Fantasy XIV Online is finally coming to Xbox, and it just blows my mind that this is actually happening. Soon, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC gamers can play one of the best MMOs online together. This is what gaming is all about.
