Legendary Japanese Manga Artist Akira Toriyama Passes Away

By Josh PiedraMarch 8, 2024

The Outerhaven joins the rest of the world in mourning the passing of Akira Toriyama. Toriyama was known for, quite arguably, the biggest, most successful, and most influential manga series of all time, Dragon Ball.

Akira Toriyama was responsible for a number of successful manga, including the Dragon Ball series, as well as popular video games, including the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon, and Tobal 1 and 2.

According to his official Twitter account, Toriyama passed on March 1 due to a subdural hematoma. He was 68.

From the bottom of the world’s heart, thank you Toriyama-san for everything you have done. You may have left us but your impact will be felt for generations to come. A lot of mangaka wouldn’t be here without you. May you rest peacefully.
