Wayfinder Early Access Will See a Two Day Delay

Wayfinder Characters

If you were looking forward to jumping to Wayfinder’s Early Access, you’re going o have to wait a few extra days as the game has been delayed. Nothing too drastic, just that the Wayfinder Early Access that was initially slated for August 15th has been moved to August 17th, 2023. I’m sure just a few days won’t kill anyone (we hope).

As for why the delay, Airship Syndicate and Digital Extremes want to ensure that the Wayfinder Early Access will be as painless as possible, so a few days will be required to ensure that things will go as planned.

Wayfinders,

We’re ironing out some final issues to ensure a smooth start to early access for players on PC and PlayStation and need additional time.

This means we will be delaying the start of early access on PC by a couple of days. Wayfinder will launch on Steam and Founders Packs will go on sale August 17 at 12 p.m. CT with PlayStation to follow.

Both Airship Syndicate and Digital Extremes’ teams are working tirelessly to ensure the best possible start to early access for Founders – we apologize for the delay. We look forward to meeting you in Evenor this week, and to commencing our journey together with you.

I say take as much time as you need, especially given that this is just an early access release. We’ve seen games officially released that have had nothing but issues, with players complaining on Twitter (X), Reddit, and other online communities. If it takes a few days to ensure things go as planned, so be it.

Wayfinder is a character-based, online action RPG that’s being released for PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam). Here, players will pick from various characters to control, each with unique play styles and abilities, and harness their power to defend against enemies that seek to destroy their beloved world. You can endlessly customize your adventures, making each character different. Explore dungeons, take down beasts, and battle against enemies with friends or go solo while gathering crafting materials for weapons, housing, augments, and more that will be of utmost importance in strengthening your character and pushing back a hostile force called the Gloom. Wayfinder supports cross-play and cross-progression, so you can play across any available platform and pick up where you left off.

While the game is in Early Access, you must purchase a Founder Pack to play the game per platform. For example, if you have it on the PS5 and want to play on PC, you’ll need to purchase a copy for the PC. However, that won’t be the same in the future when the game goes Free-to-Play.

I had a chance to play Wayfinder a few months back, and it felt that the game has promise. Just at the time, which was a few months ago, it felt like it was missing the excitement that I’m used to in MMORPGs. Still, I am more than willing to give Wayfinder another shot, even though the last time I put my interest in an MMORPG, it didn’t let its hooks off of me until a decade later.

I’m sure you can imagine which game I’m referring to. I hope Wayfinder finds some legs and doesn’t end up being the month’s flavor, only to die off sooner than expected. I’m sure we’ve all played an online game barely clinging to life.
