Sony Pictures has released its first trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, which will be released this August 2023.
When I first heard that Sony was making a movie about Gran Turismo, all I could imagine was what happened to the Need for Speed movie. To be fair, Need for Speed wasn’t a bad movie, but it wasn’t the greatest. However, after seeing this trailer, my opinion has changed, as it reminds me of PlayStation’s Gran Turismo’s World Series and the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy. Well, except now they’re going to be using actual cars.
I’m sure you may have missed the bit where the movie is based on a true story, and it is. I know a bit about gamers who transitioned into actual race car drivers, and this one is all about Jann Mardenborough, who grew up playing Gran Turismo.
The movie will follow Jann, who’s played racing games (Gran Turismo) his entire life and finally gets a chance to get behind an actual car and take it to the track. Along the way, he makes friends, rivals, and whatever else comes his way. Sure, the plot is basic, but I’m a bit more interested now than I was before. Well, that and I’m a car guy, and if I get a chance to see a movie about racing cars and gaming, I’m there.
