Steam is now offering 90-minute game trials, with Dead Space being the first game

Dead Space

Steam is set to roll out yet another new addition to its already-loaded PC gaming service, game trials. In a recent reveal, Steam has announced that anyone can play 90 minutes of the Dead Space remake for free. It appears that this is a limited-time thing and that this trial will be available until May 28, 2023, at 1 PM EDT.

Steam Trials - Dead Space remake

Dead Space looks to be the first of other games that will end up with game trials, and it doesn’t seem like the trial is limited. Now would be a great time to see just how far you can get through the game in 30 minutes. So far, it seems that this is limited as I asked another person who is located in the UK, and the option for the game trial, at least for now, isn’t available for them.

It’s something I’d love to see Steam expand on, as I was only recently saying that demos and trials need to make a return to gaming. Instead of wondering if a game is worth your money, you can just check out the game trial and see for yourself. It’s also an excellent way to see if a game can run on your PC without going over the 2-hour limit, which is the point of no return or, in this instance, no refund. Not only that, but this would save a lot of work on Steam’s end when someone purchases a game and decides to refund it for any number of reasons.

Check out our review of Dead Space Remake, which does a good job of being a remake with enough changes to give enough of a challenge for returning players but also improves the scares enough that the new generation of gamers who are more used to gore will be shaking when something goes bump in the night.

Dead Space is currently available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
