Special Demon Slayer Musical Performance Announced for 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards

Crunchyroll revealed more details today about a special musical performance by songwriter and composer Yuki Kajiura who will perform the song “Homura” from the hit action-fantasy Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc.

Originally performed by Japanese singer LiSA and written by Yuki Kajiura, “Homura” is the main theme song from the popular film Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, and also appeared as the final ending theme of the finale episode from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc, both currently available to stream on Crunchyroll. In this special live performance, Yuki Kajiura will play with FRONT BAND MEMBERS and vocalists, KAORI, KEIKO, YURIKO KAIDA and Joelle who are the member of Yuki Kajiura’s personal project, FictionJunction.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc is a seven-episode series adaptation of the popular film that includes an original episode, 70 new scenes, new music tracks, new open and ending animation, episode previews and new theme songs. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an action-packed, thrilling tale of a young man in search of a cure for his sister, who has been turned into a demon after their family is viciously slaughtered by demons. The series features animation production by ufotable and premiered in 2019, based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga, which boasts over 150 million copies in circulation in Japan.

The Anime Awards will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Tokyo, Japan, with a live ceremony hosted by renowned voice actress Sally Amaki and popular entertainer Jon Kabira. Fans can watch the Anime Awards live stream on the Crunchyroll channels on YouTube and Twitch beginning at 6:30 PM JST.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is the leading yearly awards program honoring the creators, musicians, and performances across streaming and theatrical powering the global love of anime. Sony Music Solutions, part of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., will support Crunchyroll in the execution of the event, which will be streamed for global audiences.
