Roguelike deck-building game Wildfrost gets a release date

Chucklefish’s upcoming roguelike deck-building, Wildfrost, now has a release date and will be released on the PC and Nintendo Switch on April 12, 2023.

It may sound like your average game, but it’s anything but. In Wildfrost, Players can embark on a journey through the frosty mountains alongside their trusty card deck of cute companions and powerful elemental items in order to reclaim a world from a mysterious eternal winter. Until a few days ago, I had never played the game, but once PAX East 2023 rolled around, I made a beeline to the game, much to the request of a staffer, and once I had picked up the controller, I was hooked.

I sat at the station for an hour, while others looked on and wanted me to move along. Wildfrost has an exciting and fun way of presenting a roguelike and deck-building, along with its colorful and cute visuals, and fantastic audio elements — that soundtrack is freaking amazing. It’s more than a simple deck-building game, as there are several mechanics that can work for you or against you.

Every move you make determines your outcome. Do you build up your companions, or do you buff yourself? Perhaps wait for your main character to attack, while throwing your companions to the wolves? But seeing how this is also a roguelike, you are bound to fail at times, no matter how well you do.

The Wildfrost release date is April 12, 2023, for the Nintendo Steam and PC. Are you looking forward to getting your hands on the game, like I am? Sound off in the comments, and let us know!
